Reddit Most Likely To: Spilling Coffee on the Boss

During an office holiday party, our department played an informal version of Most Likely To. Someone had printed prompts on index cards, we voted by pointing, and the stakes were a bag of chocolate coins left over from the gift exchange.

When the prompt "Who is most likely to cause a minor catastrophe on their first week?" came up, everyone unanimously voted Mark, the clumsy junior developer who had already knocked over two pencil holders that morning. And I mean everyone. Mark pointed at himself, shrugged, and said, "Honestly? Fair." He collected his chocolate coins like a champion.

Three days later, during a high-stakes quarterly meeting with visiting executives, Mark offered to help carry a coffee tray from the local cafe. He wanted to make a good impression. Nobody stopped him. In our defense, it was a short walk and the cups had lids.

As he stepped into the conference room, his foot caught the carpet edge. The tray did a slow, terrible tilt, the lids surrendered instantly, and four double-shot iced lattes splashed directly across the Vice President's immaculate white suit jacket. Ice cubes skittered under the table. Somewhere behind me, our team lead whispered, "No, no, no."

The room froze, but the VP broke the silence by laughing: "Well, at least your team warned me!" It turned out someone had told him about the party vote during small talk that morning. He spent the rest of the meeting in a company hoodie from the merch closet and honestly seemed more comfortable.

Mark apologized roughly four hundred times. The VP waved it off, expensed the dry cleaning, and told him the jacket had survived worse.

Now there is a laminated sign on the conference room door that says "Days since a Mark incident," and Mark updates the number himself. And at every game night since, we do not even read that prompt out loud. We just all point at him.
