Reddit Most Likely To: Locking Yourself Out in a Towel

Posted by u/towel_escape on r/AskReddit · July 21, 2026

During a weekend cabin getaway with seven college friends, we sat around playing Most Likely To on the living room rug. It was just after seven in the evening, the fire was going, and we had reached the competitive stage where every vote gets defended like a court case.

When the prompt "Who is most likely to lock themselves out of their own house?" appeared, all seven fingers pointed instantly at Sarah. No discussion, no hesitation, just seven arms snapping up in perfect sync. She laughed, protested, and claimed she hadn't lost a key in years. "Not since freshman year," she said. "I have a system now." Somebody wrote the vote on the fridge whiteboard anyway, because that is the kind of friends we are.

Fast forward to 7:00 AM the next morning. Sarah stepped out onto the cabin porch wrapped only in a bath towel to grab a jacket from her car. The heavy front door swung shut behind her with a sharp click. She told us later she knew exactly what that click meant before she even turned around.

The cabin had auto-locking smart handles, and every keycard was inside. So was everyone else, fast asleep. She knocked. She tapped on windows. She whisper-yelled our names through the door like a polite burglar. Nothing.

Sarah spent 20 minutes outside in the cold morning dew before she spotted a spare keycard sitting just inside a tiny cracked bathroom window, and managed to slide it out through the gap with two fingers and a lot of quiet swearing.

The scraping finally woke Dev, who pieced together what was happening and quietly got everyone else up so nobody would miss the ending. She walked back in, still in her towel, to unanimous applause.

"Twelve hours," Dev said, checking his phone. "The vote held for twelve hours." The photo of Sarah taking a bow in her towel is now the group chat icon. She claims to hate it. She set it herself.
