Reddit How Well Do You Know Me: The Forgotten Comfort Food

I created a 10-question personal trivia quiz for my group of friends of 10 years during a cozy night in. Fuzzy blankets, mugs of tea, two pizza boxes on the coffee table, and an obnoxious amount of confidence. My best friend since high school actually said, "This will be the easiest quiz of my life," before I even hit start.

Question #3 was: "What is my absolute favorite comfort food after a hard week?" The options were Pizza, Tacos, Mac & Cheese, or Authentic Thai Tom Yum Soup.

My childhood best friends all chose Pizza or Tacos without hesitating. In their defense there was literal pizza on the table, but still. A decade of friendship and they locked in their answers in about four seconds, already celebrating like the trophy was theirs.

Then there was my quiet roommate, who had only moved in three months prior. They stared at the screen for a moment, then tapped Authentic Thai Tom Yum Soup. The ONLY person in the room to pick it.

When the answer flipped green, the room lost it. My best friend since high school stood up and demanded a recount. The roommate just shrugged and said, "After your long workdays there's always a tom yum container from the Thai place in the fridge. I pay attention."

That was the moment the evening turned. The best friends were thoroughly roasted for the rest of the evening, and every wrong answer after that got the same chorus: maybe check with the roommate first. One of them kept muttering that fridge reconnaissance should count as cheating.

The aftermath made it worse for them. The roommate finished the quiz 10 for 10, a calm and merciless 100%, while the ten-year veterans were still arguing about question three. Our group chat got renamed that same night, and one of the losers showed up the next weekend holding takeout tom yum as a peace offering. I accepted it. It was delicious.
