Reddit Charades: nobody guessed Titanic until my mom looked up from her phone

Posted by u/three_seconds_left on r/partygames · July 27, 2026

My brother-in-law drew Titanic from the Movies category and committed immediately. He climbed onto the arm of the couch, stuck both arms straight out and started wobbling, which the whole room read as an airplane. So we shouted airplane things at him for a solid twenty seconds while he shook his head and wobbled harder.

Then he got down, did something slow and flat with his hands, and lay face up on the carpet, completely still. My sister said "you're dead," which he could not confirm or deny, because the actor is not allowed to speak. Eleven seconds on the clock. He was on the floor. We had nothing.

With about three seconds left my mom, who had been on her phone the whole round and was not technically playing, looked up and asked why he was lying down like that. My sister said "he's drowning." My mom said, completely flat, "oh, is it Titanic," and the timer went off maybe half a second later.

He tapped her name from the floor, so they both got the point. She now describes this as skill. He maintains the couch was obviously the bow of the ship and that we are the problem. There is now a house rule that nobody stands on furniture, which has honestly made the game worse.
